Sequential Screening, Part 1 Results

The blood work and ultrasound results came back today.  Sequential Screening is a way to estimate the chance that a baby will be born with Down syndrome, trisomy 18, or an open neural tube defect such as spina bifida.  This is a two-part test, so I will have to have a follow-up, which refines the results on January 3rd.

Results for Downs came back = 1 in 310
Results for trisomy 18 came back = 1 in 1800

So the Downs is definitely lower than what we had with Luke (he was 1:28.)  So we will wait to see what the next part shows, but all-in-all, this was good news.
